6/2013

Greetings folks.

The Peach Project is back this month. As you probably know, we took a fairly long break to remember, mourn, & commemorate the life of Jim Perrini, our brother & fellow founding member. He will be missed greatly. In the tradition of the Allman Brothers, we will move forward & keep making the most joyful music we can- always inspired by the musical spirits of Duane Allman, Berry Oakley, Lamar Johnson, & Jim Perrini. Can't wait to see you out there- we'll play out hearts out for you- RRL

2/2013

Greetings Folks-  Getting a jump on February newsletter as we've had some added on gigs.

Thanks to all who came out to the Fusion Cafe for the Peach Project show- what a night & what a response!   Great venue & great vibe- we'll be back there later in the year.  The Peach Project has a couple of great gigs coming up.  We will be at Mexicali Live on February 2nd- one of New Jersey's best clubs, doing our Fillmore East tribute series.  On February 23rd, we will be at The Castle Fun Center in Chester NY- another great venue with a concert atmosphere.
A lot of action with Jay & The Americans this month, starting with a brief road trip to Florida & followed up by some gigs up here in the northeast.  Check out  jayandtheamericans.com & see the catalog of recordings available (which I've had the chance to play lead guitar on).  Longchamp & Manzo will be at some of the usual (& unusual) haunts, & I've got a lot of solo action going also- back at Bear Mountain Lodge on February 17th & 24th for Sunday Brunch gigs- wonderful rustic atmosphere for a winter afternoon- listen to music by the huge fireplace.
The open mic nites have been amazing- thanks to all the talented & gifted guest stars who have been showing up- great singer-songwriters & musicians.  Some memorable musical nights- come check them out.

Thanks again for your overwhelming support- we'll always play our hearts out for ya- see you out there- RRL

A reminder- please join the Peach Project on Facebook.

1/2013

Greetings folks.  2012 was a very memorable year!  Tremendous thanks to our growing fan base for your enthusiastic support & energy throughout the year.  Hope you all made it through "Sandy" & other challenges intact, & are looking forward to a healthy, happy new year.

Lots of good stuff coming up.  The Peach Project is back in action with two big shows this month- both great venues.  Fusion Cafe in Butler NJ on 1/12, and Mexicali Live in Teaneck  on 2/2.  For the 1/12 gig, we're taking a cue from Steely Dan, & asking you to email us with requests for your favorite Allman Brothers tunes, whether you've heard us play them or not.  We'll take the most frequently requested songs & include them in the set (& learn them if we haven't played them before).  (Yes, you can stretch it to Allman Brothers related songs- i.e..- songs that various members of the group did in side projects or with other artists).  At Mexicali we will be doing another of the Fillmore East tribute shows with our good friends Dead on the Tracks (Grateful Dead), Some Guys & a Broad (Janis Joplin & Jefferson Airplane), & others.  Please join Peach Project on Facebook.
Solo gig on 1/12 at a great new venue- The Bear Mountain Inn-  great atmosphere- come hang out by the enormous fireplace in wooded lodge with panoramic view of Mountains & Hudson valley.

Back at the Orange Lantern with Longchamp & Manzo on 1/8, & brief road trip to Florida with Jay & the Americans at the end of the month.  Some Kootz gigs also.
Open Mic nites are going strong- come on out & jam-  Rhodes North every Monday and Valley Stables every Tuesday.  The second Tuesday of every month will be electric, with full drum & bass rig available, & the others will be acoustic. Looking forward to seeing you out there & kicking off a great new year-  RRL

A reminder- please join the Peach Project on Facebook.

12/2012

Howdy folks-  What a month, eh?  Hope you all stayed warm & safe & thanks for coming out to all the gigs.  Crazy busy December coming up.  Peach Project kicks it off this Saturday 12/1 at Pennings Farm- fun venue- big friendly barn dance.  We will be going from Live at The Fillmore to Eat a Peach to Brothers & Sisters chronologically to format the show- plus some surprises. Back at Campgaw ski area in Mahwah with Longchamp & Manzo- think snow (but lets have the power stay on).   Looking forward to new venue- playing by the fireplace at Bear Mountain- wonderful cozy atmosphere & setting.  One note- The Brick House has discontinued our long standing last Wednesday of every month gig for the time being.  We hope to be back there in the future & thank all the loyal fans who have been coming out regularly for the last few years.  The Open Mic Nights at Rhodes North on Mondays & Valley Stables on Tuesdays are roaring- come on out & jam, or just capture some of the energy.  See you out there- RRL

One last thing: We encourage you to join The Peach Project on Facebook.

See you out there- RRL  BTW- an advance heads up- we will be doing the ski areas- Campgaw in Mahwah & some others TBA as winter comes- think snow.

There is a Dionysian euphoria that stems from the interaction of band and audience that is special- live music is alive and well. Great stuff coming up. We (The Peach Project) just finished a smoking show at Mexicali Live as I write this- one of our "Fillmore East Revisited" shows, and the turnout on a Thursday night was amazing. Next up is an outdoor concert at Palaia Winery in Highland Mills NY on September 1st- a great outdoor venue- nice stage and covered seating. On September 14th we return to the legendary blues club, The Stanhope House in Stanhope NJ. 11/2010

Greetings folks-

A very busy November- some great private events as well as club gigs & some touring to far off places with Jay & the Americans- (more recording with them too). Thanks to all for your support. We have a lot of stuff going on this month. First up is a return to the Ramsey Country Club on 11/4, where we we'll celebrate our good friend, Artie Toufayan's first night in his new position as executive chef.

Rumor has it he will be coaxed out of the kitchen to jam before the night is over. The following week we return after a long absence to one of our favorite venues- The Endless Vine in Franklin Lakes. Rumors are also circulating about the probability of guest stars (Dead Heads be alert), some of whom may be 4 legged.

The Peach Project will be in Nyack on 11/6 at a new venue- The Pour House. We will also be doing a special show at the Mason Jar in Mahwah the Friday after thanksgiving. It will be like a homecoming for us & we expect to see a lot of old & new friends. Also, we entered a contest started by Dicky Betts for the best version of his classic instrumental- In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. We videoed a performance of it & it came out great. View it on YouTube. If it says video has been removed in the viewing area then just scroll down thru the list of bands on the right and select Peach Project. It's also being judged by popular vote, so if you & everyone you know can vote for us by 11/17/2010 we think we have a great chance of winning. You can vote for us starting on 11/5/2010 at this LINK.

The grand prize is being kept very hush-hush, but there are hints that it may involve performing with some PROMINENT musician types. Wish us luck- please vote, & thanks again for all the energy & good vibes. We'll always play our hearts out for you. P. S. Don't forget- BB Kings- Sunday Jan 23, 2011 with Reflections & the Band Band

Howdy folks-

Greetings folks- welcome to Fall.  September was a busy, eventful month.  Back on the road with Jay & The Americans- got to play in front of 5,000 people at the Clay County Fair in Iowa & share the bill with Three Dog Night- quite a thrill.  Also got to play backup lead guitar for Shirley Alston Reeves & the Shirelles at the Adler Theatre in Davenport Iowa.  Did some recording with Jay & the Americans & local gigs as well.

This month the Peach Project is revving back up- we will be at the South Shore Grill in Greenwood Lake on Friday October 22, & more gigs to come the rest of the year.  Also, an advance heads up- we will be at B.B Kings in Midtown Manhattan doing another Watkins Glen tribute on January 23rd, 2011.  See you out there & thanks for all the support- RRL

Howdy folks-

Hope you've had a great summer.  Here's the fall lineup.  The Peach Project is taking this month to rehearse & explore some new opportunities.  Some big stuff is in the works for the future & we'll be back in the clubs in October.  Meanwhile, come on out to some of the local gigs- lots of acoustic shows.  We'll also be at Rhodes Thursday 9/9 with the core of the Peach Project.  It will be a fun night of some of the area's finest musicians covering a variety of tunes by different artists.  Come on out & make some requests & see if you can stump us- (we're very brave).   Thanks & see you out there.

07/2010

Hi Folks - Welcome to summer.

Some big stuff coming up.  On the immediate horizon the Peach Project will be at the Watkins Glen Revisited show at the Warwick Valley Winery this Saturday.  Show starts at noon and we go on at 2:15.  We follow up in Rockland County at the Smoking Bull on July 2  We'll also be back at Mexicali Live on July 16th with our friends Particle Theory opening up, doing their eclectic mix of Jerry Garcia & David Grisman influenced  jazz-bluegrass.  Also a special Sunday show (5;00) with the Peach Project at Joey's in West Milford on July 18th.  Lot's of acoustic solo gigs & duos with Vinnie also.  See you out there & thanks for all the support.

06/2010

We have a big month coming up.  The Peach Project is gearing up for the summer with some great events.  On June 12th, we will be at The Mason Jar in Mahwah on our home turf.  The following Sunday afternoon on the 13th we will be at the Pavilion Lounge on Budd Lake.  It's a scenic venue on 13 acres with a lot of musical history (Jackie Gleason used to hang out there & hold court at the piano.)  Very large with a state of the art sound system & video projection set-up.

On the 24th we are back at Rhodes for a Thursday warm-up for the Watkins Glen Festival on the 26th (rain date- 27th).  In the summer of 73, The Band, The Allman Brothers, and the Dead played for 600.000 people at Watkins Glen.  We are recreating that at The Warwick Valley Winery with Reflections and The "The Band" band.  A great venue, great setting, great food and a magical mix of music.  Show starts at noon. (We go on at approximately 2:00pm.)

Also, Vinnie & I will be doing duos at the usual haunts, and will probably adding some more gigs up in Greenwood Lake.  We'd also like to thank all the participants and listeners at the Wednesday open mic nite after our move to Irelands 32.  Thank you for supporting live music.

See you out there- RRL

05/2010

Greetings folks -

We have some great stuff coming up.. On Friday May 7th we (the Peach Project) will be at Bernie's Hillside in Chester NJ.  A great venue with a tremendous musical history.  In the 40's & 50's it was packed day & night with listeners & dancers as world renowned musicians from the city would play big band jazz 7 days a week.  Great stage with a resonant sound.  Come on out to one of the last charismatic, atmospheric roadhouses left in NJ.  We think the place will inspire both the band and the audience.

The following night we have another special event.  The Peach Project will be celebrating our One Year Anniversary at the place where we got the ball rolling- Caffe Dolce in Suffern.  We've come a long way in a year and have been astounded & overwhelmed by the reaction & support of our rapidly growing fan base.  It wouldn't be happening without you folks out there.  Our friends Particle Theory will be opening with a 45 minute set of jazz-swing-bluegrass originals & interpretations.  If you like the music of Jerry Garcia & David Grisman, you'll love these guys.  (They said if I buy them a round they may let me sit in for a tune).  Show starts at 8:30.

The Peach project is also at Joey's in West Milford the following week on Fri May 14th.  Great Italian food and a large spacious venue with a nice stage.  Come on up to Greenwood Lake for a peachful evening.

Another heads up for next month's Watkins Glen Revisited Festival.  It will be at the Warwick Valley Winery Sat June 26th (rain date June 27th) starting at noon.  It will feature The "Band" Band, Reflections, and The Peach Project, replicating the 1973 Watkins Glen lineup of the Band, The Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead.  Beautiful outdoor stage & amphitheatre setting, great food and low ticket price.
We'd also like to thank all the participants and listeners at the Wednesday open mic nite at the Mason Jar.  It's been a resounding success so far.  Lots of talent and good vibes and a fun place to eat, drink & hang out.

See you out there- RRL

Notice for May 5th - No open mic at the Mason Jar - it will resume 5/12

4/2010

We'd like to thank everyone out there for all your support in April.  The crowds & response at the Peach Project gigs were off the hook.  The open mic nite at the Mason Jar has been fantastic- great atmosphere, talented guests, & listening & appreciative crowds.  If you play, sing, tell jokes, or just want to jam or listen, come on out to this special night- it's every Wednesday with a nice early start time (8:45)  Sign up is 8:00 if you want to get a jump on things.  Thanks for coming out to the solo shows & the acoustic duos with Vinnie also.  See you out there & we will play our hearts out for ya'.

P.S.  Keep an eye out for some special events with the Peach Project this summer.  We have a big show on June 26th (rain date June 27th) in the afternoon at the Warwick Valley Winery with Reflections (Grateful Dead tribute) and the Band band (tribute to the band).  It's a recreation & celebration of the huge 1973 concert by those three bands at Watkins Glen- should be an amazing day.

3/2010 - Greetings Folks,

Big news this month.  We (Scotty Mack from PLS staging & I) are starting an open mic night every Wednesday at a great venue-  The Mason Jar on Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah.  Sign up is at 8:00- 8:30- state of the art sound- come down & do a set or meet others to jam with. Great food, libations and atmosphere. Also, The Peach project revs back up at the end of the month- we're growing our setlist & jamming with a vengeance.

See you out there-  RRL

We will be at Mexicali Live February 6th with our friends Reflections - an excellent Grateful Dead - Jerry Garcia tribute. Should be a great vibe - see you soon. RRL

See you out there- RRL

11/2009 - Greetings Folks,

Thanks for coming out & supporting us at the Peach Project gigs at the Warwick Valley Winery and the Turning Point. You inspired us & made them the joyous musical experiences they were. Our mailing list & following is growing daily & we're really psyched for the future of the Peach Project- a lot of cool BIG things are in the works. Big Thanksgiving weekend gig coming up at Mexicali Live on Nov. 28th with Wigjam, a very good Grateful Dead band- should be great fun. Also a lot of solo gigs & duos w/Vinnie and a Ray Longchamp band gig (5 piece) at the Lampost on Nov. 13th, as well as two local J&A gigs.

See you out there- RRL

9/24 - Greetings Folks,

We have some very special shows coming up for the beginning of fall. This Friday 9/25, we are at Mexicali Blues with the Peach Project. Sharing the bill with us is The "Band" band- they do an excellent trubute to (what else), The Band. It's a perfect mix of styles so come on out and we will play our hearts out. Other big news- our full 10 minute video is up now- check it out. Some audio of a smoking show at Caffe Dolce from last month also will be up soon. The Peach Project will also be at the Warwick Valley Winery on 10/18. It's one of the most ethereal places to visit in the fall- a great setting, great food & wine, and, of course, some incendiary Allman Brothers music. Vinny& I will be doing our acoustic duo at an old haunt with new owners- Legends Steak House in Midland Park,NJ. (Special guest Artie Toufayan).

In other news, Jay and the Americans, who I tour with in their backup band, have released two CD's of new material produced by Gary Katz, who produced several of Steely Dan's major albums among many others- great stuff.  I play on several tracks- you can hear me on Hey Girl, Walking in the Rain, and Blue Jean Blue in particular.  Look for local gigs coming up in November and for the touring schedule to heat up in the new year. For more info, check out Jay and the Americans website on our friends page.

See you out there. RRL

9/18 - New Live Video Posted!! Click here to watch The Peach Project Live @ Cafe Dolce

Greetings folks.  Hope everyone had a great summer.  Thanks to all who came out to our last Peach Project gig at Caffe Dolce and supported us so enthusiastically.  The band was truly inspired by you.  We'll be hard at work this fall with some notable gigs.  The Peach Project is back at Rhodes Thur Sept 3rd for a pre-labor day fest.  We'll also be at Mexicali Live again Fri Sept 25th and have the whole night to ourselves.  We'll start early, and "play all night" as the anonymous fan yelled out at the Fillmore East in 1971.  We're working on more classic ABB material. and evolving the show.  We'll also be recording some original material for those who are interested.  Hope to see you out there soon.
